JAKARTA - A man was found dead in a tower area belonging to one of the cellular operators in Kesumbo Ampa Village, Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau, Friday at around 06.30 WIB.

Mandau Police Chief, Kompol Hairul Hidayat, said the man known to have the initials S was found by the tower guard while checking the XL provider's cell phone transmitter.

"Initially the tower guard with the initials D received a report that the tower signal was down and did not work. When checking, he found a man who was lying stiff in the tower area," he said, Friday, February 17.

Seeing the incident, the tower supervisor immediately reported the matter to the Mandau Sector Police, and after an investigation it was discovered that the victim was a resident around the area.

"The police, who were accompanied by a medical team from the Mandau Regional General Hospital, evacuated the man's body for a post-mortem," he said.

He also mentioned that around the location of the incident in the tower area, several parts of the copper cable were also found to be cut off, and the current box was open and the cable was scattered.

In addition, he said, a screwdriver was also found located in the current box and a plier on the waist and under the victim's thigh.

"We suspect the victim died as a result of being electrocuted in the tower area," he said.
