JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Areas (DPRKP) Sarjoko admitted that the DKI Provincial Government is ready to take over the management of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran and Pademangan.
Although, until now the central government has not wanted a takeover. The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is still ready to welcome back the management of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran from BNPB after its use as a place for isolation of COVID-19 patients.
"In principle, we are ready if this asset is delegated by the provincial government. Then, the provincial government assigns it to the Housing Service as a user of goods, so we are ready to carry out the management," Sarjoko told reporters, Friday, February 17.
According to Sarjoko, if Wisma Atlet can be taken over, the DKI Provincial Government will optimally function the building. If taken over, the former building where the Asian Games athletes stay will be used as a flat or hospital.
"Of course we look at it in terms of optimizing building assets, because it already exists, if it doesn't work, it's a shame. If it can be handed over to the provincial government, it can be used to add services to the community. Whether it's for residential or health services, it's more useful," he said.
However, Sarjoko admitted that the process of taking over and utilizing Wisma Atlet, if the central government wanted, had a long process.
"That's the central government's asset. After the agreement is reached, it will be donated to the DKI Provincial Government. Later, the DKI Provincial Government through BPAD will decide who the manager will be, whether the Housing, Health Service, or other agencies," said Sarjoko.
Initially, the athlete's guesthouse was built as a place to stay for athletes during the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games. After that, the athlete's guesthouse was not inhabited for more than a year.
At that time, the DPRD had advised the DKI Provincial Government to apply for licensing for the management of two athletes' guesthouses in Jakarta. However, before processing, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit all over the world, including Indonesia. Thus, the athlete's guesthouse is again used as a COVID-19 emergency hospital.
Recently, the Chairman of Commission D DPRD DKI Jakarta Ida Maheasy suggested that the DKI Provincial Government take over the management of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran and Wisma Atlet Pademangan to function as flats.
"I think there is nothing wrong with the DKI Regional Government also processing it for us to ask, make the top flat, we will build a child hospital under it. We need it. This is quite large, you know, the athlete's guesthouse, there is Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, there is Wisma Atlet Pademangan," said Ida at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Wednesday, February 1.
According to Ida, the management of the athlete's guesthouse by the DKI Provincial Government is better done because the building is no longer used by the central government as a place for isolation of COVID-19 patients.
"We don't need prestige, really. Right, the central government is our parents. We have succeeded in (managing) the Grass Market, now we add more athletes' guesthouses. Instead of being stalled for a long time, empty, many kuntil children. I know it (Wisma Atlet Kemayoran and Pademangan) the place is kuntilanak," said Ida.
