PONOROGO - A total of 15 flood points in three sub-districts were reportedly affected by the increase in the water discharge of the Paju River in Ponorogo Regency, East Java. Flash floods were triggered by heavy rain in the last two days.

Until this news was reported on Thursday, February 16, flood inundation was still monitored at several points.

BPBD Ponorogo released data in total as many as 15 flood points were observed in three affected sub-districts, namely Sukoreno, Kauman and Ponorogo Kota sub-districts.

"The flood is evenly distributed throughout Ponorogo plus the Bulukerto and Purwantoro Wonogiri parts have heavy rain so that water from the west flows to Ponorogo," said Head of BPBD Ponorogo Henry Indrawardana to ANTARA.

He said there were a total of 15 flood locations from the three sub-districts.

However, of that number, the worst affected was in Paju Village, even the water entered the residents' houses. "In Paju there are 30 houses that have water entered," he said

He added that a number of residents, especially the elderly, had to be evacuated, because they saw the health conditions of the elderly.

"We evacuated him to the Paju Village Hall, because his condition was indeed sick plus at home alone, but he is currently being treated," he said.

He also said that apart from home, the flood also submerged the MIN 6 Paju complex and the local village rice fields.

Water that enters the classroom has forced teaching and learning activities (KBM) to be temporarily closed.

"While there has been no damage, we are still monitoring it," said Henry Indrawardana.
