Optimistic In Carrying Out The 2024 General Election, KPU: Not Overshadowed By Any Situation

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari emphasized that his party always works or continues to hold the 2024 General Election.

"I think the KPU will continue to run in carrying out elections, not overshadowed by any situation. We remain optimistic about holding elections," said Hasyim after attending the 'Launching of the 2024 Election Order and Reading the Declaration of the 2024 Election as a National Integration Facilities' at the KPU Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 14, was confiscated by Antara.

He added that the KPU is also committed to following the entire process related to reports or complaints of violations of the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP) which were prosecuted by the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) or alleged violations by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).

"If there is a complaint then, there is a report, whether it is to Bawaslu, to the Honorary Council of Election Organizers, yes we will follow these processes," he added.

So far, the KPU has been reported to DKPP several times. Most recently, DKPP has held a trial to examine cases regarding alleged KEPP violations involving Hasyim and KPU members as defendants.

In Case Number 6-PKE-DKPP/I/2023, the complainant for the General Chair of the Tuntas Subagyo People's Sovereignty Party (PKR) and PKR Secretary General Sigit Prawoso suspected that all KPU members had violated the KEPP in the PKR registration stage as candidates for the 2024 General Election.

Hasyim and members of the KPU, namely Betty Epsilon Idroos, Afif, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, and August Mellaz were considered unprofessional and not based on legal certainty in carrying out the PKR registration.

The defendants were also considered not to have checked the completeness of the PKR registration requirements document which was submitted via 38 flash drives to the KPU RI Office, Jakarta.
