BNPT Maintains Communication So Ex-convict Abu Bakar Ba'asyir No Longer 'Turns Around'

JAKARTA - The BNPT continues to maintain good communication and relations with ex-terrorism convict, Abu Bakar Ba'asyir so he doesn't turn back.

"The point is, while mitigating so that he doesn't convey narratives that can make our people's minds different," said the Head of the BNPT, Komjen Pol. Boy Rafli Amar in Jakarta, Tuesday 14 February.

Boy said this was related to the potential for ex-convicts in terrorism cases who are considered to still believe in radical views.

Boy said the BNPT continues to make efforts to prevent narratives that contradict Pancasila or lead to radicalism from developing, thus triggering acts of terrorism in the country.

"They are free, but our program is together with all relevant stakeholders," he added, reported by Antara.

He explained that the monitoring and evaluation continue to be carried out by the BNPT by involving local governments and various other related parties.

Boy also prayed that Abu Bakar Ba'asyir would remain healthy and fully return to the bosom of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

"The important thing is that he remains healthy and we hope not to do radicalization," he said.
