JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the DPR Muhammad Farhan, assessed that the crackdown on armed criminal groups (KKB) in Papua requires cooperation from all parties. According to him, the KKB problem in Papua cannot be resolved simply by adding security personnel by the TNI-Polri. "The addition of TNI personnel to Papua will not solve the problem if there is no legal basis for its prosecution. So it is necessary for a uniformity of the attitude from the central government to the provincial and district city governments in Papua to focus on resolving this problem," said Farhan at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, February 13. "This means that the need for a solution in the 'population of armed criminal groups' in Papua must be based on the needs and desires of the Papuans themselves," he continued. Farhan said that so far TNI and Polri personnel have acted persuasively, decisively and humanely in securing the Earth of Cendrawasih. "Now we live in Papua, whether we are willing to help the TNI-Polri eradicate the KKB or not, that's all," said Farhan.

Farhan added that the task of the TNI and Polri in handling the KKB so far has been maximized. Because if there is more action then it can violate human rights (HAM). "If the TNI-Polri have reached the limit, it can't be more, if it means violating human rights," he added.

Previously, the KKB took the pilot and passenger hostage after the burning of the Susi Air plane at the Paro District airport, Nduga, Central Papua on Tuesday, February 7 morning.

In the near future, KKB threatened 15 builders who were building a Puskesmas in Nduga.

If 5 passengers of Susi Air and 15 builders have been evacuated by the security forces from the threat of KKB, the pilot named Philip Mark Mehrtens is not yet known. The pilot is thought to be still alive with the Papuan KKB led by Egianus Kogoya.
