JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini inaugurated the Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center Flats (Rusun) in Bekasi, Friday, February 10. The 93 units of flats were formulated for people with social welfare problems (PMKS)

"We are trying to solve the problems that exist in this area. Many live under bridges without population data and they also never get help," said Social Minister Risma in a written statement, Friday, February 10, as reported by Antara.

The Minister of Social Affairs said, as part of the process of rehabilitation and social empowerment for vulnerable groups, not only was decent housing built, but other basic needs were also given to vulnerable groups.

"They moved here, we prepare the work and training, we facilitate the education of their children and we provide access to other assistance from the government," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

Therefore, the Minister of Social Affairs emphasized that the ownership of this flat should not be transferred.

"Don't move it, sir. If it is done, I will have to remove it, both old and new residents. It must be clean. When you come home, put it there (the garbage processing site) and then here," said Risma.

The Ministry of Social Affairs' work received support from various partners, one of which was the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

The Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said that the construction of this flat is a good collaboration to overcome extreme poverty.

"Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs. This is an extraordinary collaboration to provide decent housing for community groups, especially those in one and two deciles. As the implementation of Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty, of course, this requires collaboration and the role of various parties," said Iwan who was also present at the inauguration ceremony.

The Pangudi Luhur Integrated Sentra Flat in Bekasi will be inhabited by 13 people with disabilities, 17 elderly, and 55 other vulnerable groups. They are charged a rental fee of Rp. 10,000 per month to live in the flat.

The results of this collaborative work between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of PUPR provide 93 type 24 square meters rooms that are equipped with stacked, mattresses, wardrobes, tables, chairs, kitchen sets, toilet seats, showers, and electricity token 1300 watts.

In addition, supporting facilities are also facilitated in flats, including food sales kiosks, small food kiosks, laundry, clinic rooms, library rooms, multipurpose rooms and management rooms as well as CCTV.

Furthermore, these beneficiaries will also be provided with various kinds of training to increase their capacity and skills so that in the future they can be independent. Later they will return to society with sufficient provision.

One of the beneficiaries Sri Sukowati (50) expressed her joy to be able to move to the flat. On a daily basis, she and her husband, Soebagyo (60) work as scavengers with an income of IDR 10,000 IDR 12,000.

It's nice to be able to move because it's clean and new. Thank God there are items. I don't have that bed, which has an iron bed," said Wati.

Wati hopes that by living in flats he and his family can live more decently. He also hopes that his economic standards will increase in order to provide better education to his two sons.

"I want to sell nasi uduk again. I used to sell but went bankrupt. I can cook all kinds of things. Hopefully I can sell again like warteg. My children can go to higher school," said Wati.

Until now, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of PUPR have built 3 flats, namely the Flats at the Pangudi Luhur Bekasi Integrated Center, the Flats at the Mulya Jaya Pasar Rebo Center, and the Flats in the Integrated Center Prof. Dr. Soeharso Solo, which is currently still under construction.
