Chairman of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo, assessed that the plan to build a pedestrian bridge (JPO) near the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk is not really needed.

According to Anggara, the DKI Provincial Government is better off fixing the sidewalks in that location. According to him, pedestrian access is important to revitalize to make it more comfortable.

"The DKI Provincial Government still has a lot of homework to do regarding pedestrian access throughout Jakarta. Make sure pedestrians can carry out mobility comfortably rather than building overlapping JPOs. There are a lot of JPOs but walking on the sidewalks is still uncomfortable," Anggara told reporters, Friday, February 10.

According to him, comfortable and integrated sidewalk facilities can increase the number of users of public transportation and reduce the movement of private vehicles.

"We certainly still have a vision to increase users of public transportation to reduce congestion. If pedestrian paths are well integrated, more people will want to switch from private vehicles to public transportation," he said.

Moreover, said Anggara, the recently inaugurated Kebayoran Lama Skywalk can function as an integration route for a number of modes of transportation as well as public crossing access.
