The General Election Commission (KPU) of Cianjur has determined the addition of electoral districts (dapil) in the 2024 General Election. Initially, there were 5 electoral districts in Cianjur to 6.

KPU chairman Cianjur Selly Nurdinah said the change in the number of electoral districts was determined in PKPU number 6 of 2023 concerning the electoral district and the allocation of seats for DPR members, Provincial DPRD and Regency or City DPRD in the 2024 General Election.

"KPU Cianjur initially proposed three choices of determining the electoral district in the 2024 election to the Indonesian KPU, the first proposal was still 5 electoral districts with different seat allocations," said Selly in Cianjur, West Java (Jabar), Thursday, February 9, as reported by Antara.

Selly explained, for the first proposal there was a change in the seat allocation for candidates for the Cianjur DPRD in the electoral district 3 from the original 11 seats to 12 seats due to the addition of residents in the electoral district 3 and electoral district 5 which were originally 10 seats to 9 seats.

The second proposal for the number of electoral districts remains the same but there are differences in the sub-districts that enter each electoral district and other proposals to 6 electoral districts with changes to the seat allocation for each electoral district. The three proposals were tested by the public and then consulted by the KPU to DPR Commission II.

"The authority to determine and determine the electoral district is the Indonesian KPU which has indeed been consulted with the DPR RI. So that the change in the number of electoral districts has been socialized through the official KPU Cianjur social media and the plan is also disseminated to every political party," he said.

Regarding the socialization of the addition of electoral districts to each political party, he added, it will be scheduled in the near future, so that the management can socialize it to the administrators and candidates for representatives of the people who will fight in the 2024 election.
