The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) has allocated a regional budget of IDR 4.5 billion for teacher incentives who teach at Early Childhood Education Institutions (PAUD). Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad said incentives for PAUD teachers were only provided by the government this year. The policy is solely to improve the performance of PAUD teachers and improve their welfare. "The role of PAUD teachers is very strategic in increasing human resources because starting this year they will receive incentives," he said in Tanjungpinang, Antara, Thursday, February 9. Head of the People's Welfare Bureau of the Riaud Riaud Provincial Government added that the number of PAUD teachers who received the incentive assistance was around 3,800 people. They come from PAUD teachers registered with the Education Office and the Ministry of Religion. "Alhamdulillah, this is the first year that PAUD teachers have received incentives. Hopefully, the teachers will be more enthusiastic about channeling their knowledge to children who are educated at PAUD," he said. In addition to social assistance for PAUD teachers, he said, the Riau Islands Provincial Government also provides incentives to religious leaders. The Riau Islands Provincial Government has provided assistance to religious leaders for five years, but this year the recipients of the aid are not only Islamic religious leaders, but also five other religions. The Riau Islands Provincial Government has allocated a budget of around Rp. 13 billion for incentives for thousands of religious leaders. "About 10,600 religious leaders received the assistance. This assistance is to improve the welfare of religious leaders, and also increase religious knowledge to religious communities," he said. The Riau Islands Provincial Government this year also provides assistance to the preachers who serve in the "hinterland" area. The Riau Islands Welfare Bureau recorded that 50 preachers would receive these incentives. "We are still discussing the technical distribution of incentives given to PAUD teachers, preachers and religious leaders.
