There Were New Cases Of Children's Kidney Failure, East Kalimantan Health Office Down Mount Pantau Puskesmas, Hospital To Pharmacy

The East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) will conduct monitoring at health centers, clinics and pharmacies considering the discovery of new cases of acute progressive acute kidney disorders (GGAPA).

"We are currently conducting periodic and routine monitoring in all health institutions under the auspices of the East Kalimantan Health Service, both from the Center for Public Health (puskesmas), clinics, hospitals (RS), and even pharmacies, to anticipate the distribution of dangerous purposes according to the recommendations of the Indonesian Ministry of Health," said Head of Health Services at the East Kalimantan Health Office, Dr Ronny Setiawati in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Thursday, February 9, as quoted by Antara.

He revealed that until now, there were no cases of acute kidney failure in children in East Kalimantan while there were no or not found, although some time ago two cases of symptoms were shocked that led to this, but it was not proven.

"For children who experience the same symptoms, we are vigilant by first examining how their kidneys are, then treatment must also be considered and guided to their parents, so that there is no effect on the leading disease, but so far no one has suffered from acute kidney failure in East Kalimantan," said Dr Ronny.

He explained that his party is currently coordinating with BPOM regarding the supervision of drugs that are prohibited from circulating according to the recommended list.

"Our supervision with BPOM partners starts from the inspection during production, distribution, to sales outlets, both in pharmacies to clinics and hospitals," said Dr Ronny.

Separately, the Head of the Satreskoba Polresta Samarinda through the Head of Bin Ops (KBO) Darwoko said that the police together with the BPOM and the East Kalimantan Health Service were ready to oversee the circulation of the type ofrahous drug containing substances on the reasonable boundary, for the safety of patients.

"Our efforts as an apparatus in the near future are coordinating and monitoring in parallel with BPOM to conduct surprise inspections at drug pharmacies and distributors in Samarinda, to secure the circulation of dangerous mild drugs according to the direction of the central BPOM and the Indonesian Ministry of Health," said Darwoko.

Currently, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency is revising regulations related to drug importation and medicinal raw materials to Indonesian territory.

One of these revisions was made following the case of acute kidney failure (AKI) that has occurred since 2022.

Director of Drug, Narcotics, Psychotropic, and BPOM Precursor Production Supervision, Togi Junice Hutadjulu, said that the revision also includes criteria and procedures for drug registration to guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices (CPOB).

"BPOM is making changes to regulatory revisions related to drug importation, medicinal raw materials to Indonesian territory, criteria and management such as drug registration, guidelines for how to make good drugs, and way of qualifying suppliers," said Togi.

Togi also said that BPOM had handled cases of glycol/diethilen glycol (EG/DEG) cypression of kidney failure since October 2022. In that month, BPOM had taken anticipatory and proactive steps, including intensification of product quality surveillance, tracing and examination of means of production and distribution, to the administration of administrative sanctions to the pharmaceutical industry.
