Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, met hundreds of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall Building since this afternoon.

Syafrin was invited to get on the command car with the Head of the DKI Satpol PP Arifin and the Head of the DKI Jakarta Kesbangpol Agency, Taufan Bakri.

Neighbored by ojol masses who filled Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan on the front side of City Hall, Syafrin was asked to clarify the plan to implement a paid road or electronic road pricing (ERP).

In his conclusion, Syafrin finally admitted that he would propose a withdrawal of the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on Electronic Traffic Control (PL2SE) which regulates the implementation of ERP.

Initially, Syafrin answered diplomatically about the demands of the mass action. Syafrin said that the DKI Provincial Government would follow up on two ojol demands, namely reviewing the Raperda PL2SE and excluding online transportation from vehicles that were included in the ERP payment.

"The regulations that have been proposed to the DPRD are planned to be reviewed comprehensively. Online transportation will not be subject to ERP," said Syafrin in front of the ojol mass, Wednesday, February 8.

"So, what is the demand will be included in the re-discussion of the draft regional regulations. Which, there will be a team from online transportation representatives who will be included in the discussion," he continued.

Syafrin's statement immediately made the atmosphere chaotic. The ojol masses emphasized that they still refused to apply ERP, even for all types of vehicles.

"We ask that ERP be canceled for all elements of society. If it is only ojol released (from ERP), our family will still be affected. Then there is one applicator who suggested that ERP will be charged to customers. This will also lower our orders," said the mass action orator.

Syafrin was also required to revise his statement according to the wishes of the ojol. Finally, Syafrin said that his party would withdraw the Raperda P2LSE from the Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the DKI DPRD. Thus, the P2LSE Raperda will not be included in the discussion agenda this year.

"I emphasize, currently the Raperda is in the DPRD. We will coordinate with the DPRD for the draft to be returned to the provincial government," he added.
