JAKARTA - People who receive complete vaccination along with booster doses are proven to have experienced a nearly three-fold increase in antibody levels.

"People who have received booster vaccinations are proven to have the highest antibody levels. In addition, people who in the past year have completed their vaccination status, antibody levels have almost tripled," said Head of the Health Development Policy Agency of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Syarifah Liza Munira in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 7, as reported by Antara.

He said that from the results of Serosurvei in January 2023, it can be seen that the main thing is that the proportion of people who have SARS CoV-2 immunity has increased to 99 percent,

"The proportion of the community in July was around 98.5 percent. So it's still high," he said.

The increase also occurred in population antibody levels, namely in December 2021 it was 448, July 2022 it increased to 2,095, while in January 2023 it increased to 3,207.

"So it is important to complete vaccinations. Although the results of this survey show that the immunity condition of the Indonesian population is good, we still need to emphasize and complete our vaccination status," he said.

The Ministry of Health together with the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI) conducted a third survey Serology study to determine the immunity status of the community. The study was conducted on 16,286 respondents in 34 provinces and 99 districts/cities.

The respondents chosen were the same respondents as the study on the July 2022 and December 2021 serosurveyies.

"The purpose of choosing the same respondents is to see changes in antibody levels from December 2021 to January 2023," he said.

FKM UI Epidemiologist Iwan Ariawan said the purpose of the Serosurvey was to determine the percentage of Indonesians who already had antibodies to SARS CoV-2. The methodology managed to collect blood from 16,286 respondents who were then tested for their antibodies.

"As a result, in December 2021 in the same person, 88 percent, we say that the Indonesian population already has immunity to COVID-19, in July 2022 it will increase to 98.5 percent, then in January 2023 it will increase to 99 percent of Indonesia's population already has antibodies," he said.

The increase in antibody levels, he continued, was caused by vaccination or having been infected with the COVID-19 virus.

"According to age, the higher the age, the higher the antibody level. Because in the elderly the risk of severe COVID-19 or death is the highest. Meanwhile, children have the lowest antibody levels in toddlers because they have not received vaccinations," he said.
