The fire that scorched 25 houses in a fairly dense residential area in Sukamenak Village at around 23.00 WIB forced 102 people to flee. "25 houses burned down, so the position is in a state of flattening now," said Head of the Evacuation and Rescue Section of the Bandung Regency Fire Department, Miftahussalam in Bandung, Antara, Tuesday, February 7. The fire that occurred was thought to have started from one resident's house that lit candles. The candles that were lit in the house caused the mattress to catch fire and the fire spread to other parts of the house. The wind then made the fire even more violent by laying on the other houses. The Fire Department deployed a number of fire engines to deal with the fires that occurred in Sukamenak Village. "The access to the fire engine is a bit difficult, so it requires a long tube. More than 25 officers were deployed," said Miftahussalam. Meanwhile, Sukamenanak Village Head Taufik said that the fire that occurred in residential areas in his area could only be extinguished on Tuesday at around 02.00 WIB. "There was one person who was injured, and there were two people who had shortness of breath. It had been treated at the nearest hospital, at Sulaiman Air Base," said Taufik. Most of the residents affected by the fire fled to relatives' homes. Taufik said that only two families had fled to the mosque near residential areas that were affected by the fire. The Sukamenanak Village Government has set up a temporary public kitchen to help residents whose houses burned down.
