CIANJUR - Perumdam Tirta Mukti Cianjur, West Java, ensures that water flows back to the homes of tens of thousands of customers in a number of sub-districts in Cianjur, after repairs to the main pipe that leaked at 18 complete points were carried out today.
Director of Technical Affairs at Perumdam Cianjur, Syamsul Hadi, said that after repairs for more than two months after the earthquake hit Cianjur, hundreds of officers managed to repair the main pipe which was broken and leaked at dozens of points including the Mangunkerta-Cugunang earthquake and landslide.
"Although water distribution has been successfully repaired, it has not been maximized to each customer, so it takes several days to 100 percent normal. The repair process takes a long time, especially in the Gintung-Mangunkerta Bridge area which landslides," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Monday, February 6.
His party estimates that 100 percent of the water will enter the customer's house on Tuesday after the distribution pipe is filled with water from the main pipe which has been repaired.
"Usually there is a vacancy or air pressure in the main pipe, so the water gets to the customer's house late, we hope it will be normal tomorrow," he said.
Syamsul said, when the aftershock occurred again it was quite strong, causing the newly repaired main pipe to leak again, so that for several weeks, the water did not flow normally to the customer's house, and his party was forced to send water tanks to meet the needs of residents and customers.
"If it is done for almost two months, repairs will be made, including after being repaired again and leaking due to aftershocks due to high pressure on each of the main pipes," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding losses after the earthquake, he added, it was clear that there was a loss because when the water did not flow for one month the loss that occurred was estimated at IDR 1 billion, but this was reported by the Director of Perumdam to the Cianjur Regent.
"We have received assistance from the ministry for the installation of a new 7 kilometer-long main pipe from the Cirumput spring, so we hope that in the future the distribution will no longer be disrupted," he said.
