MATARAM - The Bima City Government in West Nusa Tenggara Province mobilized all components in society to work together to reduce stunting cases in its region through the "Stuntingroyok" Program.

The Bima City Government received in Mataram, Monday, Bima Mayor H Muhammad Lutfi said that collaboration and synergy of all elements in the government and society were needed to reduce the number of stunting cases.

"I want our enthusiasm to reduce stunting in Bima City not only to come from the Health Office, but also from various existing agencies and elements of society," said ANTARA, Monday, February 6.

He said that the number of stunting cases in Bima City at the end of December 2022 reached 14.6 percent, down from 16.7 percent the previous five months.

According to him, this figure is still higher than the prevalence of stunting in Bima Regency, which is wider than Bima City.

Therefore, the Mayor said, the "Stuntingroyok" Program was implemented to accelerate the reduction in the number of stunting cases in Bima City.

The "Stuntingroyok" program includes educational and counseling activities targeting adolescents, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and husbands on standby.

"I hope that health center cadres in their respective coverage areas can be serious in this program, so that in 2024 our stunting will be at seven percent," said Mayor Bima.

Meanwhile, the President Director of the Bima City Regional General Hospital, dr. H Faturrahman conveyed the importance of education regarding the prevention of early marriage, fulfilling the nutritional needs of mothers and babies, as well as efforts to prevent mothers and children from attacks by diseases in efforts to overcome stunting.
