A 9-year-old Boy Carryed By River Flow In Kudus Dies, His Friend Who Was Helped Selamat

The 9-year-old boy who was swept away by the current of the Gelis River, Kota District, Kudus, was found on Sunday, February 5. The resident of Bakalan Krapyak Village, Kaliwungu District, was found dead.

"The victim was found in the Gelis River at the Dukuh Tambak Lulang floodgate, Ploso Village, Jati District, Kudus, at around 15.00 WIB," said the Head of the Daily Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Kudus, Mundir, in Kudus, Central Java (Central Java), Sunday, February 5, confiscated by Antara.

The victim's body was then taken to the Kudus Hospital accompanied by his family. The family released his body on Sunday, February 5, at 20.00 WIB.

In conducting the search, the joint SAR team combed twice along the Gelis River. The search was carried out starting from the point of occurrence to the Tambak Lulang Bridge, Ploso Village.

"Two floodgates in Tambak Lulang were also opened to reduce the height of the puddles to facilitate the search process, until they were finally found at the Tambak Lulang floodgate on the east side which had been opened," he said.

Meanwhile, the number of personnel involved in the search reached 50 people.

Victim Alif was swept away by the current of the Gelis River with his friend Umar from Krandon Village, Kota District, on Friday, February 4 at 13.30 WIB.

At the time of the incident, there were six children playing in the river, including the two victims.

Four of them took a shower in a shallow spot, while the two victims took a bath under the eastern side of the bamboo tree.

Umar was allegedly dragged by the swift current of the river, then drowned asking for help. Alif tried to help but couldn't hold onto the victim's hand, but both drowned.

Friends of the two victims then asked local residents for help. Not long after, the Umar victim was found by residents, while Alif was only found today, Sunday, February 5.
