SAMARINDA - Officer of the Class II A Narcotics Prison Samarinda, East Kalimantan, thwarted an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine-type drugs weighing 50 grams through tennis balls thrown from outside the prison. "We appreciate prison officials in anticipating several efforts that want to conduct smuggling into prisons. With this incident, officers continue to maintain their commitment to create prison conditions that are free from drugs," said Head of the Class Ila Narcotics Prison Samarinda Hidayat in Samarinda, Antara, Saturday, January 5. The methamphetamine was smuggled by throwing the tennis ball from the outside into the prison which was found by the tower post officers. Then the officers swiftly reported it to the guard commander, the Head of KPLP and Kalapas. Then the security officers searched the area and found the tennis ball in the ditch, and after an examination it turned out that a white crystal package was found, which was confirmed to be methamphetamine. "After the discovery, we checked using a special tool, and for the positive result methamphetamine weighing 50 grams," said Hidayat. For this incident, the Head of the Samarinda Narcotics Headquarters, Hidayat, immediately coordinated with the Samarinda Police for further processing. Previously, the Samarinda Narcotics Prison had also thwarted the smuggling of liquid methamphetamine from visitors who work as online motorcycle taxi drivers. "We found another new mode of smuggling suspected methamphetamine in the form of liquid wrapped in two sachet sauces," said Kalapas.
