JAYAPURA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Jayapura Regency, Papua, really hopes that internet network infrastructure that reaches all villages in the area will be in a stable condition ahead of the 2024 General Election.
The Socialization Division of Community Participation Education and Human Resources of the Jayapura Regency KPU, Lodwik Ap, said that with the support of good internet network infrastructure, it can help data updating officers (PPD) and voting committees (PPS) in each district and village.
According to Lodwik, his party together with the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Jayapura Regency and the Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab) have discussed the condition of internet service infrastructure at the district and village levels in Sentani on January 1, 2023.
"So we hope that the Jayapura Regency Government through the Communication and Information Office (Kominfo) so that villages that have not received an optimal internet network can be overcome by 2023," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 3.
He explained that the level of cheating is quite vulnerable to places that have not been able to access the internet smoothly, so it is hoped that the problem will be resolved soon.
"So to minimize fraud in the implementation of the 2024 General Election, we hope that internet services in all villages in Jayapura Regency can be completed so that they are easily accessible," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Jayapura Regency Communications and Information Office Gustaf Griapon said that his party had submitted an application to a working partner, namely BAKTI Kominfo, for the construction of a non-3T base transceiver station (BTS) for villages that had not yet received an internet network connection or blank spot.
"There are as many as 142 locations prepared, but only 44 locations have been realized from Bakti Kominfo plus nine locations in 2023. It is planned that this year all the locations can be on water," he said.
He added that there are several districts in Jayapura Regency that have non-optimal internet networks, one of which is in Repenirara District, so there needs to be an increase in networks by increasing internet quotas.
