6 Defendant Of The Obstruction Of Justice Case Of Murder Brigadier J Read Pleidoi

The six defendants in the obstruction of investigation or obstruction of justice case, the death of Yosua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J, will read out a memorandum of defense or plea today.

The defendants were Hendra Kurniawan, Agus Nurpatra, Arif Rachman Arifin, Chuck Putranto, Baiquni Wibowo, and Irfan Widyanto.

"Today is the defense of all the defendants," said South Jakarta District Court Public Relations official Djuyamto when contacted, Friday, February 3.

In the previous trial, the prosecutor assessed that the defendants legally and convincingly committed the criminal act of obstruction to the investigation.

The defendants were deemed to have violated Article 49 in conjunction with Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.

However, the defendants were charged with different criminal sanctions. For example, Hendra Kurniawan and Agus Nurpatra who were sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 20 million.

Then, Chuck Putranto and Baiquni Wibowo with a demand of 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 million. Meanwhile, Arif Rachman Arifin and Irfan Widyanto were sentenced to 1 year in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 million.
