The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Gunungkidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, controls the attributes of political parties whose installation violates the rules and disturbs the comfort of public facilities. Head of Gunungkidul Satpol PP Edy Basuki said the control of party attributes was carried out because the installation violated the applicable rules. "In accordance with the circular made regarding the installation of billboards, including party attributes, we must comply with applicable regulations. In essence, it cannot be installed on trees, power poles, telephone poles, to bridges. If someone is reckless, then we will arrange them," said Edy Basuki in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, Antara, Thursday, February 2. The Gunungkidul Satpol PP will take firm action against the installation of attributes of political parties that violate the rules. The plan is for the control to be carried out periodically in all areas in Gunungkidul Regency. "Pengertiban oleh Satpol PP merupakan bagian dari tugas pokok dan fungsi yang dimiliki sebagai satuan penegak peraturan daerah. Penertiban terus dilakukan secara periodic di seluruh wilayah Gunungkidul," katanya. According to Edy, in carrying out tasks in the field, Satpol PP officers did not specifically target. The reason is, the attributes deemed to be violating will be brought under control, then taken to the office. The control is not only against banners or advertising pamphlets, but also targets the attributes of political parties including flags. Even though it has been removed, Edy allows political parties to take their attributes at the Gunungkidul Satpol PP Office. When taking these attributes, Satpol PP will convey socialization and education related to the installation procedures according to applicable regulations. "The flag of a political party has also been taken directly by the owner, a few hours after the removal," he added. Meanwhile, a member of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Gunungkidul Regency Rosita admitted that currently, it has not entered the stage of the 2024 Simultaneous Election campaign. However, the installation of party attributes and prospective legislative candidates is starting to be seen on the side of the road. Bawaslu has not been able to take firm action regarding the installation of campaign attributes because they have not entered the campaign stage. "Until now we have not provided recommendations for enforcement because the campaign stages have not yet begun," Rosita said. Regarding the steps taken by the Satpol PP to curb the attributes of political parties, Rosita assessed that the policy must have a legal basis as a basis for implementation in the field. "We appreciate this control. This is to maintain conduciveness and public order; what is clear is that they must have acted on a legal basis that became the reference," he said.
