JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to build a waste screening system in the Pesanggrahan River. This waste screening is the second project after previously being built in the Ciliwung River.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, explained that currently his party is still preparing in the form of a study on determining the location of the waste filter to the budget planning.

"We will try to plan it later in the Pesanggrahan River. We are currently making a study for the location point and then how much budget is needed," Asep told reporters, Thursday, February 2.

Asep targets that the preparation of a waste filter planning study for the Pesanggrahan River will be completed in June. After that, the stages continue in the process of land acquisition and residents' buildings to construction work.

"Later, we will try to allocate land acquisition and (work) physically in 2024," said Asep.

On that occasion, Asep also explained the progress of working on the first waste filter in the Ciliwung River, precisely in the Simatupang TB segment, South Jakarta, which has not yet been completed.

The construction of a sieve that can accommodate 40 m3/day waste has been planned by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan since 2018. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this project with a budget of IDR 195 billion will only be implemented in 2022.

There is one obstacle to working on the Ciliwung River waste filter, namely the delay in the land acquisition process. The problem of land acquisition has resulted in a three-month delay in the construction target.

"It should be January. Because there are obstacles on the land, so we give an extension of time. The land acquisition has been delayed for 3 months. So, we are targeting the completion of physical work on March 26," he explained.
