Member of Commission D of the Semarang City DPRD, Dyah Ratna Harimurti, assessed that the punishment for the perpetrators of child kidnapping must be increased to have a deterrent effect, including for minors.

"If possible, the kidnapping of children is punishable by death. Because they are cruel, let alone seeing the now motive for selling their organs," said the woman who is familiarly called Detty, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 1.

According to him, actually child kidnapping has existed for a long time, including in human trafficking, for example to be employed as buskers, beggars, and so on.

"It's included in 'human trafficking' (human trafficking). However, now how come it's getting more and more worrying, like the case in Makassar where two teenagers kill their young children to sell their organs," he said.

One of the two perpetrators is still a minor, he said, but should not make the punishment for the perpetrators mild, because it is feared that similar cases will emerge.

"It's very late. If he wants to make money, yes, sell his own organs. This intends to sell other people's organs, by killing. In my opinion, he should be sentenced to death," said the PDI-P politician.

With a severe punishment, he said, it is hoped that it can have a deterrent effect so that it can prevent cases of child kidnapping, and of course it must be dismantled to its networks.

"Investigate the network and the perpetrator's severe law, the law is dead. Including, if the perpetrator is still a minor. Yes, to avoid cases of kidnapping of this kind of child," he said.

On the other hand, Detty also asked parents and families to tighten supervision of children and associations in the surrounding environment, because crimes are not only committed by unknown people.

Recently, news has spread about child kidnapping in various regions. In Semarang, there has just been an alleged attempt to kidnap an 11-year-old child in the Pedurungan area, last Monday, January 30.

The victim was buying flour at a grocery store when two unknown people rode a motorcycle, and was lured by candy. The victim was then pulled by his hand, but rebelled and shouted so that the two perpetrators fled.
