DKI Jakarta And NTT Alami The Spike In Cases Of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Only Early 2023 The Number Of People Collapsed 710 People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) noted that two provinces experienced a spike in cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever in early 2023. The number of cases from the two regions reached around 710 cases.

"Until the fourth week of 2023, there were 710 cases reported from East Nusa Tenggara and DKI Jakarta," said the Director of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (P2P) of the Ministry of Health, Imran Pambudi, confirmed on Wednesday, February 1, as reported by Antara.

Of these cases, there were six cases of death, with a ratio index of 0.85/100,000 population, and a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 0.26 percent.

He said the number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever was reported from 50 districts/cities in a number of provinces, including NTT and DKI Jakarta.

The most cases reported at the beginning of the year from three regions in NTT, including Sikka Regency 95 cases, Southwest Sumba 71 cases, and West Manggarai 55 cases.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in DKI Jakarta Province was reported from South Jakarta with 44 cases, and West Jakarta with 42 cases.

"There were 306 additional cases in the fourth week of 2023 and five deaths," he said.

The additional cases came from 28 regencies/cities from the provinces of NTT and DKI Jakarta.

Imran added that the suspect had dengue hemorrhagic fever sourced from the cumulative Early Alert and Response System (SKDR) report until the fourth week was 16,647 suspects.

SKDR is a system that can monitor the development of a trend of an infectious disease with the potential for extraordinary events or outbreaks from time to time.

The Directorate of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (P2P) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health also reported that the accumulation of dengue cases throughout 2022 in Indonesia reached 142,294 cases, 1,227 of which were reported to have died.

There are five regencies/cities with the highest number of dengue cases in 2022, all of which are domiciled in West Java Province.

These areas include Bandung City reaching 4,572 cases, Bandung Regency 3,222 cases, Bekasi City 2,332 cases, Depok City 2,102 cases, and Sumedang 2,086 cases.

Imran said that the efforts that can be made by the community to control dengue include eradicating mosquito nests through the 3M Plus method (Directing, Closing, and Recycleing used goods) which is a suggestion for breeding mosquito larvae.

In addition, the community can also sprinkle larvaeid powder in water reservoirs that are difficult to clean.

Using mosquito or mosquito medicine, using fire while sleeping, raising mosquito larvae, planting mosquito expulsion plants, regulating light and ventilation in the house, and avoiding the habit of hanging clothes in the house which can be a place to rest for mosquitoes.
