DIY - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X welcomed the plan to visit the Deputy Pope Francis, namely Cardinal Miguel Angel Ayuso Guixot MCCJ. Cardinal Ayuso plans to go to Yogyakarta for an audience.

"This is an inter-state visit, so later we are ready to accept and we will prepare it according to protocol," said Sultan HB X at an audience with members of the Indonesian Catholic Journalists Association (PWKI), at the DIY Governor's Office, Tuesday, January 31, as reported by Antara.

Cardinal Ayuso, who is in charge of Interfaith Dialogue from the Vatican, will go to Yogyakarta to represent Pope Francis, receiving the Honoris Causa Doctorate Honorary Degree (HC) from the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta on February 13, 2023.

"Pope Francis was unable to come to Yogyakarta to receive the Honorary Honorary Causa (HC) title from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, thus representing Cardinal Ayuso to accept it," said PWKI Delegation Leader Mayong Suryolaksono.

Mayong, who was accompanied by the Advisor and founder of PWKI Putut Prabantoro, said that Cardinal Ayuso's visit to Sultan HB X was also a return visit from Pope Francis, after previously the PWKI group made an official visit to the Holy Land of the Vatican.

"During the visit of the PWKI delegation to the Vatican on November 16, 2022, we also handed over souvenir prizes in the form of Wayang Kulit Mount from Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Ceplok Manggara Karna Kawung Batik from GKBRAy Adipati Paku Alam X for Pope Francis," he said.

He said, apart from that, during the visit of the PWKI delegation to the Vatican, there were also other gifts in the form of painting and Statue of the Maria Mother of All Suka from the Archbishop of Jakarta Ignatius Cardinal Suharyo and the Workbook of Rm Sandro Peccati SX, an Italian missionary who has worked in Indonesia for 60 years.

"PWKI's visit to the Vatican is to promote world peace which is the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution and Abu Dhabi's Document on 'Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together' (Human Brotherhood for World Peace and Together Life)," he said.

He said, in the audience with Sultan HB X, the PWKI delegation also submitted photos of public audience documentation at the Basilica St. Peter on November 16, 2022 and also a news clip in the mass media with the title "Pope Francis welcomes gifts, including from Yogyakarta which shows brotherhood among religious believers."
