Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the construction of the Central Java Grand Mosque (MAJT) in Magelang began today as a symbol of religious harmony. "This development plan was delayed by two years due to the pandemic, now Alhamdulillah we have come to be able to ground-breaking because in this third year it can finally be continued again," said Ganjar in Magelang, Antara, Tuesday, January 31. He conveyed this at the ground-breaking of the MAJT development in Sawitan, Mungkid District, Magelang Regency. Ganjar said Magelang was chosen as the location for the construction of the MAJT because it was able to become a symbol of harmony between religious communities. Later, MAJT is expected to become a center of religious moderation. "Here there is Borobudur Temple, there are temples, churches too. I hope the mosque can become a center for religious moderation, so I imagine religious figures can chat because below there is a place to become a meeting room," he said. The Grand Mosque which was built on an area of five hectares, the Central Java Provincial Government cooperated with the Magelang Regency Government and the local Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). He advised that the construction of this mosque be carried out optimally and pay attention to quality. "I entrust everything so that everything can be on time, good, and the quality is maintained. We give the best to build a house of worship and harmony will appear here, people will get together in harmony here," he said. In addition, in its implementation, Ganjar ensures that it will involve people with disabilities related to the facilities needed to be friendly for people with disabilities. "Sorry, we also involve friends who live under poverty," he said. On that occasion, Ganjar firmly reminded that there should be no corrupt actions in the MAJT development process in Magelang.
