South Sumatra OKU Regency Government Proliferates Green Open Space

OKU - The Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency Government, South Sumatra has increased the development of green open spaces (RTH) by building parks at several points in Baturaja City as a means of cheap recreation for the people in the area. Head of the Settlement Area Division of the OKU Regency Housing and Settlement Service (Perkim), Muzaim Alamsyah said, in addition to being useful for the environment, green open space can also be a means of cheap recreation for the community to just let go of fatigue with their families after working for a week. More than that, the existence of green open space is considered capable of generating the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector in OKU Regency, which is currently growing after the pandemic has slowed down. "We can see together the existence of this park as a new location for MSME players in selling their wares because there are many visitors," he said in Baturaja, Antara, Tuesday, January 31. He explained that the construction of this green open space park was carried out to improve public infrastructure as well as organize the city area by utilizing empty spaces to make it more beautiful to look at and not look shabby. At the end of 2022, he said, the OKU Regency Government had completed the construction of 24 green open space parks spread across several sub-districts in the OKU Regency area. The parks that have been built include Taman Kartini, Kemalaja, Simpang Unbara, Taman Sukaraya, Taman Sepadan Sungai Jembatan Ogan I and Jembatan Ogan II. Then, a children's playground in Baturaja City Park, OKU Police Park and Taman in the area of the OKU Regency Perkim Office in Kemelak Village, East Baturaja District. In fact, in 2021 the local government will build a park with a batik pattern typical of OKU Regency which was built in the Sriwijaya Hospital Housing area, East Baturaja District. The park, which is named Griya Selangu Sekundang, was built with a design with a batik pattern typical of OKU Regency with kale flower motifs, Pucuk Renbung and Bunga Matahari motifs. He added that the park that had been built was equipped with facilities such as lighting, chairs and ornamental plants, and some were even complete with children's game facilities. "The construction of the park is designed in such a way that its existence supports the beauty of Baturaja City, OKU Regency as well as a means where children play," he said.
