Mahfud MD: President Jokowi The 2024 General Election Firm Is In Accordance With The Schedule

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD said President Joko Widodo ensured that the 2024 Simultaneous Elections would run on schedule. "The president ensures that the 2024 General Election will run and he has summoned the General Election Commission (General Election Commission), Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency) and so on. From the government's point of view, the president has a 2024 election," Mahfud said after an audience with the MPR for Papua in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, January 31. Mahfud continued that Jokowi had limited meetings with him, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan. Jokowi ordered his staff to prepare the 2024 General Election as well as possible. "Why me? I am the Coordinating Minister (Polhukam). As for the Minister of Home Affairs to organize his politics, Mrs. Sri Mulyani was told to provide the money, BIN sniffed out his security, problems, and so on," he explained. Thus, Mahfud guarantees that the 2024 General Election will still be held. "So, I say, I guarantee, the election will be in 2024. Apart from that, I don't know. It's a political matter," he added. Some time ago, Mahfud held a meeting with constitutional law expert who is also a former deputy minister of law and human rights (wamenkumham) Denny Indrayana at his residence. In his meeting with Denny Indrayana, Mahfud said the issue of postponement of the election and extending the presidential term were several things discussed. "Denny is my younger brother, my junior. Often goes to the house, often comes here (Kemenkopolhukam) too. The last meeting was about four days ago, to that house," said Mahfud.
