Burns Of The Al Quran In Sweden, Cak Imin Asks Muslims Not To Beprovoked

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Korkesra Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin invites Muslims to remain calm and not be provoked by the burning of copies of the Al Quran in Sweden.

"Fired the Quran clearly injuring Muslims, I encourage police officers in Sweden to take firm action against the perpetrators. But most importantly we (the Muslim population) must remain calm, not provoked by that action," said Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives in the field of Korkesra Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 31. The disgraceful act was carried out by Rasmus Paludan, leader of the right-wing Danish political party in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, Saturday, January 21.Paludan who is also a Swedish citizen, once held a number of demonstrations in the past, when he burned the Al Quran. Muhaimin strongly condemned the heinous act. Apart from opposing the value of Islam, he mentioned Paludan's actions could trigger inter-religious tensions in the world, especially Islam. "I strongly condemn the burning of the Al Quran Holy Book in Sweden, it is not only incompatible with religious values and tolerance, in fact more than that it can trigger tension," said Muhaimin. Arab Arabia, such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Kuwait also criticized Paludan. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared Saudi Arabia calling for spreading values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence, as well as rejecting hatred and extremism of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as addressing the incident. Indonesia strongly condemns the burning of the holy book of Al Quran by Rasmus Paludan. The practice of the holy book has injured and tarnished religious tolerance. Expression freedom should be done responsibly.

Meanwhile, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf regretted Rasmus Paludan's attitude. KH Yahya prays that Paludan is aware and gets the values of the truth after the actions taken by Paludan. "Whatever his cause is, it is accompanied to fail. Let's just continue to sit back and enjoy the longing of our own faith while waiting for Rasmus Paludan to collapse with all his dreams or he converted or turned to the right path," said Gus Yahya.
