SOUTH Sumatra (Sumsel) Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) conducted evaluation and guidance on 49 law-aware villages/kelurahan in Lahat Regency.

"Dozens of villages and sub-districts aware of the law need to be trained and re-evaluated according to the circular of the Head of BPHN Number: PHN-05.HN.04.04 of 2017," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra, Ilham Djaya in Palembang, South Sumatra, Tuesday 31 January.

He explained, not all regions have villages and village villages are aware of the law as much as in Lahat Regency, for that his party appreciates regents, sub-district heads, and village heads who are aware of the law.

The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra as a village/kelurahan development agency is aware that the law has the task of establishing, fostering, and evaluating villages/kelurahan aware of the law.

"Villages/kelurahan are aware that the law is not eternal because there will be evaluation, guidance, and development of legal culture in the community that forms attitudes and behavior of the community whether they understand their rights and obligations as citizens, based on that it can be reduced and added," he said.

In evaluating legally aware villages/kelurahan, his party uses four-dimensional criteria, namely the dimension of access to legal information.

Furthermore, the dimensions of legal implementation, the dimensions of access to justice, as well as the dimensions of democracy and regulation.

The results of this evaluation will later determine whether the village/kelurahan is still feasible to remain a village/kelurahan aware of the law.

"If based on the assessment it is still feasible to become a law-aware village/kelurahan, it will be submitted by the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights with the approval of the Governor of South Sumatra to the Minister of Law and Human Rights to be inaugurated as a law-aware village/kelurahan and receive the Anubhawa Sasana Village award or Anubawa Sasana Kelurahan," said Ilham.

According to him, the implementation of legal awareness villages/kelurahan must be supported by all elements of society from various circles, ranging from individuals, families, and the community.

Through the implementation of these activities, it is hoped that all apparatus and the general public, especially in the Lahat Regency Government, can know, understand, live, obey and implement them in their behavior and behavior.

"I believe that if awareness of the law in the community can increase and the law can be enforced in every aspect of life, then the various efforts carried out in the context of accelerating the achievement of community welfare can be realized more quickly," said Ilham.

Meanwhile, previously, the Deputy Regent of Lahat, Haryanto, when in contact with the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra, Ilgam Djaya expressed his gratitude for the appreciation, guidance and evaluation of villages/kelurahan aware of the law in their area.

In a meeting attended by the Head of the Legal and Human Rights Service Division, Parsaoran Simaibang, Head of Legal Affairs, Ave Maria Sihombing, Head of OPD Lahat Regency Government, Kalapas Lahat, Imam Purwanto, and Head of Lahat Perimandya, Deputy Regent Lahat committed to realizing a conducive atmosphere in the midst of social life.

Villages/kelurahan are aware of the law which is one of the keys to making this happen.

For this reason, it is necessary to develop a law-aware village/kelurahan so that people continue to have awareness of the law, implement the values of life that obey the law.

In establishing a legal awareness village, his party stipulates several requirements that must be met, such as the village appointed to have to pay off the obligation to pay the Land and Building Tax (PBB) reaching 90 percent or more, there is no marriage under age based on the provisions of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning marriage.

"The criminal charges are low, the low number of drug cases, the high public awareness of cleanliness and environmental sustainability, and other criteria set by the regions," said Deputy Regent Lahat.
