19 Cases With 2 Deaths, West Sumatra Pariaman City Re-Status KLB Hemorrhagic Fever

PARIAMAN - Pariaman City, West Sumatra was again included in the extraordinary incident (KLB) of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) after it was discovered that 19 cases of the disease this month. Two of them died. "For January 2023, there have been 19 cases of dengue fever. Pariaman is also a KLB because two people died," said Head of the Pariaman Health Service Nazifah in Pariaman, Antara, Monday, January 30. Last year, the area also had the status of a DHF KLB with a total of 213 cases and two of them died. This condition also makes the area a KLB status. According to him, the condition of dengue fever in Pariaman is caused by the weather. Since mid-2022 until now there has often been rain that can cause mosquito breeding sites. Although the anticipation has been carried out by his party by mutual cooperation in the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN), the government can not only handle it but also the community. "So we have to try not to have these mosquitoes, by burying them or closing water reservoirs," he said. He appealed to the village government and communities in the area to participate in carrying out PSN's movement or mutual cooperation to eradicate mosquito nests and breeding sites so that there are no more victims of the disease. He conveyed that his party carried out fogging at every location of the dengue case but this would not work optimally if there was no role from the community who did not participate in PSN. Previously, the Pariaman City Government, West Sumatra, anticipated an increase in mosquito larvae after high rainfall in the area and its surroundings in order to suppress the addition of residents affected by dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). "Usually after the rainy season, there will be many mosquito larvae that live, now this must be minimized," said Head of the Pariaman Health Service Nazifah in Pariaman. He said this was important because of the increase in dengue cases in Pariaman caused by the change in weather from rain to heat so that mosquito breeding sites appeared.
