"By taking into account the location of the epicenter (the epicenter of the earthquake, ed.) and the depth of the hypocenter and the mechanism for the fault, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow earthquake due to the subduction activity of the Australian Indo plate with the Eurasian plate," said Hery.
Nevertheless, he said that the earthquake activity that occurred on Monday, January 30, was not felt by the community.
With more frequent earthquakes, he said, accumulated energy is expected to be released or released slowly.
"Therefore, the people, especially those living in the southern coastal areas of Kebumen and Cilacap Regencies, are advised to remain calm in the earthquake that occurred in the last few days, including the three earthquakes that occurred today (Monday, January 30)," he said.
He said that if the community needed information related to the earthquake, they were welcome to contact the BMKG and the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) or access the official social media channel belonging to the BMKG.
