The Assumption That Indonesian TKW Servants Abroad Have Not Yet Met, Susi Pudjiastuti Dukung Mahfud MD, The Enforcement Orkestration

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti supports the steps taken by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD to encourage law enforcement officers and related ministries to move quickly to respond to complaints experienced by Indonesian female workers (TKW) abroad.

This was said by Susi in response to Mahfud, who recently highlighted the incident of a TKW from Cianjur named Siti Kurmeisah who was wronged by her employer and even related to her daily meals. Siti's wish in the video that was spread was to request that the government be able to return her home was finally granted.

"Support [supports] moral & policy [policy] as well, sir," said Susi on her Twitter account, @susipudjiastuti, Monday, January 30.

Susi said that quick action could be in the form of deepening and investigations were indeed needed to respond to TKW incidents abroad. Because there are still many cases of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) being underestimated at work and causing death.

"The letter from the father to the relevant apparatus for prosecution will definitely be a priority," continued Susi.

Previously, the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia informed that TKW from Cianjur Siti Kurmeisah had been processed according to the provisions so that she could immediately return to the country. The information was also reported to Mahfud MD's social media account.

"Permission to report to the Coordinating Minister @mohmahfudmd PMI from Cianjur by the Indonesian Embassy Riyadh team is running fast [moving fast]. Now the decree is in the shelter of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh. The repatriation process is processed according to the provisions," wrote the Twitter account of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, @IndonesiaInRYD, Sunday, January 29.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD appreciated the quick action of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh in repatriating Siti, who claimed to have received arbitrary treatment from her employer.

Mahfud said it was important to move quickly to respond to the incident experienced by TKW or PMI, which is often considered a slave abroad and a foreign ship.

"Good,gercep. Many of our TKI/TKW are treated like slaves abroad and on foreign-owned ships. I see shelters in some of our Indonesian Embassys abroad. Very concerning," Mahfud said on his Twitter account, @mohmahfudmd, Monday 30 January.
