Cigarettes, Disabilities Brothers In Bogor Died Burned

JAKARTA One housing unit in Pabuaran Village, Bojonggede District, Bogor Regency caught fire and two brothers with disabilities died. The fire is thought to have come from cigarettes that grabbed the mattress.

Bojonggede Police Chief, AKP Dwi Susanto, revealed that the incident occurred last Thursday and the two victims, known to be brothers with visual impairments, died in hospital. The two victims were MR (23 years) and NA (17).

Allegedly, the cause of the fire was because the cigarettes that grabbed the mattress until the fire grew. Based on information obtained by Dwi from the head of the local RT, the victim had a habit of smoking five packs per day.

"He was homeless, smoked. There was smoke, the right and left neighbors saw that it was on fire. Put together with residents, taken to the hospital, there died," Dwi said in his statement Friday, January 27.

Dwi explained that the fire occurred at around 13.00 WIB. Initially, the head of the local RT received information from residents that one of the residents' houses had caught fire.

After checking by the head of the RT, he continued, local residents tried to extinguish the fire. After the fire was extinguished, it was found that there were two victims. This was also reported to the Babinkamtibmas of Pabuaran Village to check the crime scene (TKP).

"The victim was taken to the Citama Pabuaran Hospital. At 14.00 WIB the victim was declared dead at the Citama Hospital," he said.

Dwi estimates that the loss caused by this fire was Rp. 10 million. Where the air conditioner, mattress, and cupboard were also burned. Luckily, the fire did not spread to the surrounding buildings because the residents managed to extinguish it.

"No, the fire doesn't spread, just in that room. (The victim) is still in the hospital," he concluded.
