Anticipate Child Penculikan, Yogyakarta City Government Implements Degree Procedures and Student Returns at School

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government (Pemkot) again reminded the school regarding procedures for the arrival and return of students to school to anticipate kidnapping or violence against children.

Head of SD Development Division of the Yogyakarta City Youth and Sports Education Office, Mujino, said that since early January, his party had sent a circular regarding safety and comfort in the school environment.

"In it, it already contains procedures for the arrival and return of students including safety procedures during students at school," said Mujino as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 27.

In the circular, it is stipulated that the obligations that must be carried out by schools when students arrive, namely having to ensure that there are security officers and picket teachers at the school gate, students shake hands with teachers and head to their respective classes while waiting for the lesson hours to begin.

Meanwhile, when returning, schools are also required to ensure that security officers are already at the school gate, security officers memorize people who drop off and pick up students, supervise suspicious people, and students have to leave school at a maximum of 17.00 WIB unless there are activities accompanied by teachers.

Regarding the alleged kidnapping of a student from an elementary school in Yogyakarta at the beginning of the week, Mujino said that the case occurred outside the school.

"From this case, of course, it must be a common concern for all schools, parents, and students," he said.

Therefore, he continued, in addition to ensuring the readiness of teachers and security officers at schools, Mujino also said that cooperation and coordination were needed with Babinsa and Babinkamtibmas in the school area.

"People in the environment around schools also have a no less important role to anticipate these unwanted events," he said.

In addition to strengthening school safety procedures, Mujino hopes that schools will also improve character education for students.

At least students ask for permission when they are leaving for school, including asking for permission if they are going home late. I think it's also part of the character that must be built," he said.

On Monday, January 23, there was an alleged kidnapping that happened to one of the elementary school students in Danunegaran, Yogyakarta City while playing alone in front of the house and then two people who recorded and waved.

The student's parents said the two people were reportedly trying to catch up and kidnap their child.

Meanwhile, SD Muhammadiyah Danunegaran Yogyakarta then issued a notification letter to parents regarding the alleged kidnapping case which contained an appeal to parents to drop off and pick up their children on time at the delivery and pick-up points that had been set by the school.

Students are also advised not to leave the school environment during teaching and learning activities until school time.
