DPD And Aceh Attorney General's Office Are Basing On The Follow-up To BPK's Findings

ACEH - The Public Accountability Agency of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) held a meeting with the Aceh High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) to discuss the follow-up to the findings of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) which indicated harm to state finances. The consultation meeting took place at the Aceh Prosecutor's Office, in Banda Aceh. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chair I of the DPD RI Public Accountability Agency Bambang Sutrisno, and Deputy Chairman III Arniza Nilawati and a number of DPD members including M Fadhil Rahmi and several others. Bambang Sutrisno said that many things were revealed at the meeting, specifically regarding the follow-up to BPK's findings which indicated harm to regional finances. "We also appreciate the Aceh Prosecutor's Office for following up on the BPK's findings. And this is certainly a good step in rescuing. This meeting is our effort to monitor developments carried out by the prosecutor's office regarding the findings of the BPK RI which are indicated to be detrimental to state finances," said Bambang Sutrisno as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 26. Bambang Sutrisno said the prosecutor's office also revealed the obstacles during the meeting when following up on BPK RI's findings. Among them are the calculation of state losses by external prosecutors which takes a long time. "Therefore, we encourage the auditor agency to make a joint agreement with the prosecutor's office on how the process of calculating state losses will take a long time, so that case handling is not hampered," said Bambang Sutrisno. Head of the Aceh Attorney General's Office (Kajati) Bambang Bachtiar appreciated the DPD RI Public Accountability Agency for holding a consultation meeting. This is because many things have been discussed regarding the follow-up to the findings of the BPK RI which are indicated to be detrimental to state finances. "We also convey various matters regarding the handling of cases that harm the state's finances in the forum. Among them are the calculation of state losses," said Bambang Bachtiar. Bambang Bachtiar hopes that the DPD RI, state loss audit agency, can accelerate the calculation of state losses in a case. This is because the prosecutor's office has a limited time limit in completing a place that is indicated to be detrimental to state finances. "The public certainly doesn't know problems outside the juridical. The public always blames us for handling a case that has harmed state finances for a long time. In fact, we are constrained by calculating state losses from auditors," said Bambang Bachtiar.
