South Jakarta Police Reject The Suspension Of Suspects Of Child Domestic Violence, Former OVO Employees

The South Jakarta Metro Police did not grant the request for a suspension of detention submitted by the suspect Raden Indrajana Sofiandi (RIS). The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Irwandhy Idrus, said that until now the suspect, who is also a former OVO employee, is still being detained.

"The request for a suspension is the right of the suspect, but so far we have continued to make arrests for the smooth running of the investigation process as stipulated in Article 21 of the Criminal Code," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Irwandhy Idrus in a short message, Wednesday, January 25.

Previously, it was reported that after a long legal process, RIS, a former OVO employee, a suspect in a domestic violence (KDRT) case at the Signature Park Apartment, Tebet, South Jakarta, was officially detained at the Metro Police, South Jakarta. Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Nurma Dewi, confirmed the news.

"Yes, it's true (RIS) has been detained," said Nurma when confirmed, Monday, January 23.

Meanwhile, contacted separately by RIS' attorney, Hendri Kurnia confirmed that his client had been detained. He said RIS had been detained since Saturday, January 21. "Yes, he has been detained since Saturday (January 21) afternoon," he said.

However, Hendri ensured that his party would apply for a suspension for his client. He also hopes that the process of the RIS case file will be completed more quickly, so that it can be tried by the South Jakarta District Court.

"It will definitely apply for a suspension of detention, because Mr. Indra is still providing for his children, and hopefully the police and prosecutors will immediately submit the case files to the court, so that the trial related to this case will begin immediately," he concluded.

The South Jakarta Metro Police named Raden Indrajana Sofiandi (RIS) as a suspect in the domestic violence case on Friday, January 6. RIS has abused his two biological children KR and KA at the Signature Park Apartment, Tebet. The act of persecution by RIS went viral on social media.

The article alleged against RIS is Article 76C Jo 80 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection Jo 44 of Law Number 23 of 2004 and Jo Article 335 of the Criminal Code concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence.
