The Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda) deployed hundreds of personnel to help residents affected by flooding due to prolonged rain for the past four days in every district/city in the Riau Islands Province.

"We have alerted hundreds of personnel from the Ditlantas and Ditsabhara of the Riau Islands Police to help residents affected by the floods due to the rain in the last few days," said Traffic Director of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol Tri Yulianto, quoted by ANTARA Wednesday, January 25.

He said the hundreds of personnel were deployed in several locations that were prone to flooding, namely on roads that were crossed by residents and at traffic light intersections and residential areas.

"Later on, the police personnel will be there to help residents and regulate traffic flow, so that there is no accumulation and vehicles that are dragged by the flood currents and avoid traffic accidents on roads due to slippery roads," he said.

As for the Sabhara personnel, Tri explained that the Sabhara personnel participated in providing safety equipment.

With this flood, Tri appealed to residents to always be vigilant and careful wherever they are during bad weather like today.

A number of areas in Riau Islands Province have experienced flooding due to moderate to heavy rain that has occurred for the past three days.

Not only flooding due to rain, but also flooding due to rising sea level for residents in coastal areas.
