Thousands Of Houses In 5 Regencies Of Bengkulu Region Inundated In The Flood, Hundreds Of Residents Displaced

BENGKULU - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said five city or district areas in Bengkulu Province were affected by the flood. "Until now, based on reports submitted to BPBD Bengkulu Province, five areas have been affected by flooding," said Secretary of BPBD Bengkulu Province, Khristian Hermansyah, in Bengkulu City, Tuesday, January 24, Antara confiscated. The five areas are Bengkulu City, Central Bengkulu Regency, North Bengkulu Regency, South Bengkulu Regency and Kaur Regency.

Of the five areas, as many as 956 residents have been displaced, 3,170 houses have been flooded and one bridge has been damaged by moderate and heavy rain since Sunday, January 22 afternoon until now. Khristian said the flood occurred in Talang Empat, Karang Tinggi, Pondok Kelapa, Taba Penanjung, and Semidang Lagan sub-districts which affected 911 houses. In South Bengkulu Regency, floods hit Seginim District and landslides on the Manna-Pagar Alam highway, precisely in Kayu Ajik Village, Ulu Manna District. Meanwhile, in Bengkulu City, the flood submerged Sungai Serut District, Ratu Agung and Muara Bangkahulu District. As a result, 956 residents were displaced.

In addition, two school buildings, three mosques, two offices, and about 50 hectares of agricultural land, as well as 2,242 houses were flooded.

In Kaur Regency, floods hit Padang Guci Hilir District and North Bengkulu Regency in Batiknau District and Air Napal District. Previously, the Bengkulu Provincial Government distributed basic food aid in the form of 1.6 tons of rice, 1.6 tons of sugar and 1.6 tons of flour from the Social Service emergency fund to flood victims in Central Bengkulu Regency.
