SENTANI - A Sam Airplane with flight number PK-SMS type DHC 6-300 which skidded while landing at the Melawak Airfield, Beoga, Puncak Regency, Papua Mountains, was immediately taken to Jayapura for repairs.

Director of Airlines Sam Air, Wagus Hidayat, said the plane was brought to Jayapura in the next one or two days because of damage to the tires and wings due to skidding.

"The team will be sent to Beoga to carry out temporary repairs and then be brought to Jayapura," he said as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 24.

According to the Deputy Head, the incident with flight number PK-SMS piloted by Capt Alex Agatha and Copilot Desly Putut carrying 11 passengers from Mimika to Beoga occurred at around 07.30 WIT.

"Before the plane flew to Beoga, all operations were running normally and conditions were airworthy," he said.

He explained that when he was at an altitude of 10 nautical miles before Beoga, the pilot made contact with the plane which was temporarily parked at Beoga Airport.

"Our plane's body is large enough so it has started to reduce speed in the air while making contact with the plane that was parked but before landing our plane experienced a shock due to the wind but managed to land with a hard landing so it couldn't be controlled properly so it skidded to the right of the runway. Bega," he said.

Beoga Airfield is at an altitude of approximately 5,000 feet and has a length of 560 meters. The condition of 11 passengers who took part in the flight is in a safe condition.
