"It hasn't rained for a few days. Yesterday it rained big, evenly, so it was (a disaster)," said Head of BPBD Garut Regency Satria Budi in Garut, Saturday, January 21, quoted by Antara.

Heavy rain on Friday, January 20, which flushed the southern region and other areas in Garut for a long time. As a result, waterways and rivers overflowed.

The area that was hit by the disaster, he said, was in Bungbulang District as many as seven houses were flooded due to overflowing from drainage, but eventually the water receded quickly, and there were no casualties.

"There are seven floods in Bunbulang, they are caused by drainage, the water is overflowing due to garbage," he said.

In addition to flooding, said Satria, there was also the Waralayan Bridge in Gunamekar, Bungulan District, which was damaged by overflowing river water, as a result, residents could not take advantage of the bridge's access.

He also mentioned that there was another damaged bridge or a shift in Pamulihan which is currently being checked regarding the level of damage.

"The bridge was because it was a long time ago, so down it approached the water, when the water rose, it just hit," he said.

He added that heavy rains in the southern region had also caused landslides such as in Pakenjeng, but the landslides were small and did not interfere with road access.

The community, he said, had worked together to clean up the landslide material that hit the neighborhood.

"Landslides at Pakenjeng, village roads, but have been handled independently by the community," he said.
