JAKARTA - Member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Wahyo Dewanto asked PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol to reform its tourist area in order to attract more visitors.

According to Wahyu, if Ancol does not improve since the decline in revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this tourist area managed by DKI BUMD can be less competitive with coastal areas that can be accessed for free at PIK 2, Tangerang, Banten.

This was conveyed by Wahyu in a meeting of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD which presented the board of directors of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building.

"Let's reform. You (Managing Director of Ancol) can look to next door neighbors, PIK 2, the retail is never quiet because the variant of eating is complete. From the upper class, lower class, until there is no class, it's always crowded because you can enjoy the length of the white sand for free," Wahyu said, Thursday, January 19.

Wahyu also mentioned Ancol's regional capital participation (PMD). Although PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol's largest shares are owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (72 percent) and the rest are owned by PT Pembangunan Jaya and the public, this company has never received PMD.

However, according to him, if Ancol needs more funding sources to develop its area, the DKI DPRD can approve the provision of PMD from the APBD to Ancol. Moreover, if Ancol's company's revenue increases, this will contribute more regional income.

"We will definitely help. In fact, if we want PMD, we will definitely give it. It will be destroyed later if your program is just like this," he said.

As is known, in 2019, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol was able to contribute the company to local revenue (PAD) reaching Rp239 billion.

However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ancol area was forced to close due to activity restrictions. This resulted in a drastic decrease in regional tax contributions from the tourist area.

As of 2020, Ancol's tax contribution per year is only IDR 16.5 billion. Continuing in 2021, Ancol's contribution is still IDR 16.4 billion a year. After the easing of restrictions in 2022, Ancol's contribution began to increase again to reach IDR 143.5 billion.
