Pasar Jaya Explains Why There Are 902 Tons Of Rice Piles In The Warehouse

JAKARTA - Perumda Pasar Jaya has opened its voice about the discovery of piles of rotten rice in its warehouse in the Pulogadung area, East Jakarta. Perumda Pasar Jaya Corporate Secretary Muhammad Fachri revealed that the rice was the rest of the retail business.

"For the rice in Pulogadung's warehouse, the rest of Pasar Jaya's business is from retail businesses. The total is around 920 tons. The amount is large because it is an accumulation," Fachri said when contacted, Thursday, January 19.

Fachri explained, in carrying out food sales, Pasar Jaya always leaves some of its products as a buffer stock. This, said Fachri, is a must in order to carry out good corporate governance (GCG) as a government-owned company.

"The term is, when the process is about to send, for example 10 tons, we also need supplies of up to 15 tons. Why? Because when packing can be broken, or something that is not distributed. This is so that the project is smooth and the customer is not disappointed," explained Fachri.

Fachri did not deny that the procurement of rice that is now left in his warehouse was carried out in conjunction with the provision of social assistance (bansos) in 2020. However, he emphasized that his company's task of distributing social assistance had been completed.

"Pasar Jaya during the assignment period from April to December 2020, there were 11 stages. At each stage there were buffers. So, to talk that it was social assistance rice, no. If social assistance, from Pasar Jaya has been completed. It's completely finished," he said.

Furthermore, Fachri revealed that 920 tons of rice which has now yellowed and moldy will be auctioned off to the private sector. However, the rice being auctioned is not intended for human food.

It is known that the findings of this rotten rice went viral on Twitter by social media activist Rudi Valinka with the account name @kunawa. The quarawa accused the rice he found at the Pasar Jaya warehouse in the Pulogadung area, East Jakarta, of social assistance rice.

The findings of this rice are also associated with accusations about the issue of corruption in the procurement of social assistance for residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, at which time the Governor of DKI Jakarta was still held by Anies Baswedan.
