JAKARTA - The police have started mapping the Lebaran/Idul Fitri 2023 homecoming route to provide comfort and security and minimize congestion during the homecoming flow.

Head of Traffic Police, Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi, said preparations were made to minimize obstacles that might occur during the homecoming season.

"This opportunity is also a momentum for the Traffic Corps and the Traffic Directorate to start preparing early for physical work preparations, then changes to road layouts to additional lanes," said Kakorlantas Firman as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 17.

Firman also explained that in the near future, his party and stakeholders will begin to conduct an initial review of the Idul Fitri 2023 homecoming flow route, especially the southern route.

"In the near future, for January 19, we plan to start a field survey, we, the Director General of PUPR and the Director General of Land Transportation will join forces to see locations, especially on the southern route, which during Eid yesterday was not in much demand," said Firman.

According to Firman, the survey of the homecoming flow route is expected to provide alternative road recommendations for people who will carry out homecoming flows. This is also to unravel congestion on toll roads.

"Hopefully this year we can break down the density that may occur on the toll road, meaning that there are many alternative routes that can be enjoyed by the community when the important homecoming flow is appropriate, safe and comfortable," added Firman.
