Divorce Rate In Manokwari Implementation Twofolds In 2022, The Most Economic Factors

PAPUA - The Manokwari Religious Court (PA) recorded that 246 divorces occurred in the Manokwari, Bintuni, and Wondama areas throughout 2022. This figure is out of a total of 480 cases that were included in the Manokwari District Court in the same year.

Chairman of PA Class IB Manokwari Anwar Harianto said the divorce rate in Manokwari had increased dramatically, which only amounted to 100 cases the previous year.

"In 2022, there has indeed been an increase of more than 100 percent, in 2021 the divorce was recorded at less than 100 and the total lawsuit was only 280 cases," said Anwar in Manokwari, Tuesday, January 17, as reported by Antara.

The lawsuit from the divorce case that went to the Manokwari District Court was based on various reasons, but the highest was economic factors and infidelity.

"Lakak mayor masuk di PA Manokwari dengan alasan masalah ekonomi keluarga dan yang kedua adalah perfilangan," tuturnya.

In fact, Anwar said that there are still many young couples who understand marriage is still low, this can be seen during the trial where trivial problems cause couples to file for divorce.

"The phenomenon was revealed when each couple was tried at PA Manokwari, even though it was only a trivial matter but they felt disturbed which ended in divorce," he added.

The Religious Court also continues to disseminate information to the public so that it is not easy to file for divorce, by preparing themselves before undergoing a serious relationship in the form of marriage.

"If marriage is too young, the effect starts from unstable emotions and is prone to divorce, besides being mentally and economically, you must be ready and mature," he said.
