Jokowi Again Wanti-want Of The Neutral Security Apparatus In Political Year

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked for domestic stability and security ahead of the 2024 General Election to be guarded. The TNI-Polri were asked not to do politics and focus on carrying out their duties.

Jokowi's Wanti-wanti was again conveyed when he opened the Regional Head Coordination Meeting and FKPD throughout Indonesia at SICKC, West Java, Tuesday, January 17.

"I need to remind you that the TNI and Polri are not practical in politics," Jokowi said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Tuesday, January 17.

The TNI-Polri, continued Jokowi, must focus on mapping potential vulnerabilities in the political year. They must not be conceded in the face of any threats.

"Don't do it when we have a new incident, we are busy here and there, whose fault is this, whose fault is this," he said.

Regional heads also get assignments from Jokowi ahead of the election. They are reminded to keep the public from becoming victims of identity politics.

Jokowi warned all stakeholders to be diligent in going to the community. They must also have sensitivity so that unwanted things can be prevented.

In addition, it is hoped that this step will create a conducive atmosphere. "So that small incidents can be immediately reduced. I really entrust this problem," he said.

Previously, President Jokowi had mentioned the neutrality of the security forces during the 2024 election. He reminded the authorities not to participate in politics in the country.
