Security Guard At P3DW Sukabumi Had A Side Job As A Tax Payer Broker: 50 Victims With IDR 100 Million Loss

SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi City Police Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating a case of alleged embezzlement of motor vehicle tax payments by unscrupulous security guards on duty at the Sukabumi City Regional Revenue Management Center (P3DW), West Java.

"Until now, a number of witnesses and victims have been questioned by the Sukabumi City Police Satreskrim investigation team regarding the alleged embezzlement of motorized vehicle tax payments from residents," said Head of Public Relations of the Sukabumi City Police, Iptu Astuti Setyaningsih in Sukabumi, Antara, Tuesday, 17 January.

Information gathered from the police and P3DW officers for Sukabumi City, the mode used by the security guard with the initials RE is that he claims to be able to manage and make it easier for motorized vehicle owners who want to pay taxes at the Sukabumi City One-Stop Manunggal Administrative Unit (Samsat) Office.

In other words, RE took a side job as a broker at the Sukabumi City Samsat Office. To streamline its action, RE assures its victims that it can easily and quickly complete all tax payment administration without having to stand in line or wait.

With the security guard's uniform worn by RE, the victims believed it and finally entrusted money to pay their motorized vehicle tax to this security guard.

However, in reality, instead of paying the deposited money to the tax payment counter, it was deposited and allegedly used for RE's personal interests.

Until now, the number of victims who are suspected of having been deceived has reached 50 people with a total amount of funds misappropriated by RE reaching IDR 100 million, with varying amounts of losses being borne by the victims.

"We are still developing the case of alleged embezzlement of motor vehicle tax payments and appeal to residents who feel they have been deceived by RE to report immediately so that this case can be quickly uncovered," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of P3DW for Sukabumi City, Iwan Juanda, said that the security guard had been dishonorably dismissed by his party because apart from committing fraud and violating the main duties and functions (tupoksi) of being a security guard.

As a result of this case, all elements were harmed starting from taxes, insurance to Samsat services. Apart from that, this institution is also on the side of the victims as a result of RE's actions.

Of the dozens of victims, there were those who admitted that they had given up money on the RE email, then there were also those who reported it to the Sukabumi City Police and some of them chose the family route.

He added that actually his party always reminds residents who want to pay motor vehicle tax to take the legal route or not use the services of brokers and have to pay it directly at the payment counter.
