PAPUA - The Government of Biak Numfor Regency, Papua has tightened supervision of the health of livestock to keep the area free of livestock disease. "For sending livestock from outside Papua, it must be equipped with an animal health certificate from the area of origin, so until now Biak remains safe from livestock disease," said Head of the Biak Regency Agriculture and Food Security Service, Numfor Made Suaryadana, in response to ANTARA in Biak, Monday, January 16. For the supervision of livestock entering the Biak Numfor Regency Government, the Task Force for preventing nail mouth disease (PMK) has involved local related parties. Among government agencies, namely the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Health Office, Biak Port Health Office, Biak Class 1 Agricultural Quarantine Station, Indonesian Police and other technical agencies. Made said that the supervision of various livestock entering Biak Numfor Regency was through the seaport and airport doors. "Coordination of work with related agencies continues to be built to keep Biak Numfor Regency safe from livestock disease," said Made. He invited the community in Biak Numfor Regency to report to the authorities if they saw or found livestock entering Biak Numfor Regency. "The Biak Numfor agricultural service has continued to tighten supervision outside the entry of livestock so that our area remains free and safe from dangerous livestock diseases," added Made. The establishment of the Regional PMK Handling Task Force based on the Circular Letter of the PMK Handling Task Force Number 1 of 2022. “ With the PMK Task Force at the central and regional levels, it is hoped that the handling and control of PMK can be more effective in coordination and more efficient in budget utilization The policies and strategies for handling PMK include responsiveness in terms of biosecurity, livestock traffic and prevention of transmission between regions.
