CENTRAL KALIMANTAN - The Central Statistics Agency noted that the number of poor people in Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) as of September 2022 was 144.52 thousand people or 5.22 percent of the total population. This figure is down by around 3.49 thousand people when compared to March 2022.

"The resident is categorized as poor because of income per household below Rp2,602,999 per month," said Central Kalimantan BPS Intermediate Expert Statist Ambar D Santoso when the press released 'The Poverty Profil and Inequality Level of Population Expenditure', in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Monday 16 January.

According to him, although the poverty population as of September 2022 is lower than March 2022, it is still higher than September 2021, which is around 141,000 people.

Based on the classification of residential areas, for the period September 2021-September 2022, the number of poor people in urban areas increased by 2.07 thousand people (0.01 percent) from 57.86 thousand people in September 2021 to 59.93 thousand people in September 2022.

When compared to March 2022, the poor population experienced an increase of 0.09 thousand people, but the percentage decreased by 0.08 percent.

The poor population in the village of September 2022 increased by 1.43 thousand people (0.09 percent) compared to September 2021 from 83.17 thousand people to 84.60 thousand people.

"The factors affect the poverty rate in Central Kalimantan from March to September 2022, namely economic growth, inflation development, open unemployment rate (TPT), and peak rice harvest," said Ambar, quoted by Antara.

He said Central Kalimantan's economy in the third quarter of 2022 against the third quarter of 2021 experienced growth of 6.74 percent (y-on-y). Household consumption spending in the third quarter of 2022 grew by 2.21 percent (y-on-y). Compared to the second quarter of 2022, it grew by 0.16 percent (Q to Q).
