Russia Is Starting To Production Of The Poseidon Nuclear-capable Regiment After Successfully Roading The Launch Test

JAKARTA - Russia is reported to have produced the super nuclear-capable torpedo Poseidon (NATO reporting name, Kanyon), after previously the Belgorod nuclear submarine successfully conducted a test launch.

The first wave of the Poseidon nuclear-capable torpedo for the special nuclear-powered submarine Project 09852 Belgorod has been produced, said a source close to the Russian military and defense industry.

"The first batch of the Poseidon's ammunition has been produced and will soon be delivered to the special Belgorod nuclear-powered submarine," the source said, launching TASS Jan. 16.

According to the source, trials of the Poseidon's core torpedo components, including the nuclear power unit that made it move independently, were reportedly completed.

The crew of the Belgorod nuclear submarine is said to have completed a series of test launches of the Poseidon torpedo dimension-mass model.

"The Belgorod submarine has completed a series of trials of the Poseidon mass dimension model," according to sources close to the Ministry of Defense.

According to the source, the test "is aimed at testing the Poseidon launch system, and this goal has been achieved."

"The Poseidon super torpedo launch test was carried out to clarify the submarine's performance at various depths after launch," the source said.

However, TASS does not yet have official confirmation of the two informations.

The Project 09852 Belgorod submarine, the first carrier of the Poseidon nuclear-capable torpedo, was built by the Sevmash Shipyard and launched on April 23, 2019.

The submarine was originally planned to be delivered to the Navy in 2020. According to available data, the shipment was delayed because the trial program had not yet been completed, which was also due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the Russian state armament program until 2027, there will be three similar nuclear-powered submarines that will strengthen the Russian Navy.
